about
Part of another project entirely- meant to be more minimal- a beat, a cello or sax, and a 2-sting slide bass.
This one is heavily influenced by the music of Morphine, AKACOD, and Monique Ortiz specifically.
While this did end up as a "Love" song- it is actually about asthenization- a concept I had heard of in high school, or college, and tucked into my head as something I wanted to write about. Struggled for a LONG time trying to figure out how to not only put it into words, but make it relatable to others. This finally hit me a couple years ago while starting this project.
lyrics
I felt a pull within the dark
Fell in the orbit of your star
We did a dance in which you led
Or was that all in my head
Searching for a ray within my gloom
I caught a little glimpse of you
and now nothing else will do
It's like I've been to the moon
Planets align and then they part
Following the paths they led before
To dance alone and with new friends
Till fate brings them around again
Above everything I knew
A sense of heavenly commune
I simply can't compare the view
It's like I've been to the moon
And now
It seems
That all is a dream
and no matter the high
I'm reaching for you
higher
